In Remembrance Drummer Eric W. Roe, 14367
Private/Drummer Eric William Roe served with No. 2 Company of the 2nd Battalion, Grenadier Guards in France. He was killed on action sometime between September 14, 1914 and September 16, 1914. Below is the second page of a letter Capt. Bernard Gordon Lennox sent to Roe's parents after his death. Capt. Bernard Gordon Lennox was the commanding officer of No. 2 Company and killed within the first months of the war as well. Unfortunately, the first page of his letter has been lost. Lest we not forget the sacrifice both Drummer/Private Roe and Capt. Lennox made while serving No. 2 Co'y, 2nd Batt., Grenadier Guards.
Both the letter and photograph are courtesy of Sharon Witherden, great grand niece of Eric William Roe. Thank you. Lest we forget...
